Please share your thoughts, stories and memories about the wonderful town of Diss! Your stories will become a physical part of the new artwork to be placed by the mere.
Flock is inspired by the flocking behaviour of birds in flight, schools of fish and the swarms of eels, synonymous with the Mere and the nearby River Waveney. The sculpture’s form responds directly to the site, evoking the Mere’s infamous depth and is created from a collection of curved, metallic tubes of varying lengths. These not only mimics the behaviour of local wildlife, but also represent the individual directions we take within a community and how we move forward together as one - including those who have made Diss their home. The local community will be invited to share their stories which will be curated into prose by a local collaborate, Bel Greenwood and showcased as a physical part of the installation.
